Palm trees set against snow-capped peaks rising over 3,000 metres, medieval arcades, beautiful Art Nouveau architecture, one of the finest racecourses in the Alps and a favourite retreat of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, affectionately known as Sissi \u2013 welcome to Merano<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This charming spa town has something to delight everyone. Stroll along the beautiful promenades beside the Passer River, explore the magnificent Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle<\/strong> with their extraordinary variety of plants and flowers, or discover the history of tourism at the Touriseum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For stunning views over the old town, follow the scenic Tappeinerweg<\/strong>, a panoramic walking trail above the rooftops of Merano. The elegant Municipal Theatre and magnificent Kurhaus, with its famous Kursaal, are further highlights of this enchanting town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bolzano, Sterzing, the Dolomites & Lake Garda<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From the Passeiertal Valley, you can easily explore Bolzano<\/strong>, South Tyrol’s capital and a historic trading town where Alpine and Mediterranean cultures meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discover its magnificent Gothic cathedral, the picturesque fruit market and the lively Walther Square, with the dramatic peaks of the legendary Rosengarten mountains rising in the distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bolzano is also home to the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology<\/strong>, where you can meet \u00d6tzi, the famous 5,300-year-old Iceman. Another fascinating attraction is the Messner Mountain Museum Firmian<\/strong>, housed in Sigmundskron Castle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The charming medieval town of Sterzing (Vipiteno)<\/strong>, with its colourful buildings and historic streets, is also well worth a visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
